TutorCruncher suits agencies needing Xero, QuickBooks and GoCardless or a documented API, as of 21 October 2026. Halqora suits online academies of one-to-one classes needing per-student currency, a built-in classroom and teacher pay tied to recorded outcomes.
Halqora is our product. We’ve tried to keep this comparison fair: competitor details come from their public pages, checked on the date shown. Tell us if anything is out of date at support@halqora.com.
Halqora vs TutorCruncher: the short answer
Choose around the work your academy must finish each month. An agency that depends on accounting connections and direct debit has good reasons to choose TutorCruncher. An online academy that needs different student currencies, a built-in classroom and outcome-based pay has good reasons to consider Halqora.
Halqora is management software for online academies and tutoring businesses from Talt AI; Murouj Academy runs on it. Halqora schedules, bills and pays one-to-one classes. Siblings can share a family invoice, but siblings still have separate classes.
The practical question is whether the software’s rules fit your operation. Compare how you collect money, review class outcomes and approve teacher pay before comparing subscription prices. A lower base price does not settle those questions.
Comparison checked 21 October 2026
The comparison above separates documented features from unanswered questions. TutorCruncher details come from the supplied public pricing, integration and help pages dated 21 October 2026, except the US prices checked on 20 October 2026. Product claims remain TutorCruncher’s claims; a listed integration does not establish what your subscription includes.
The body focuses on what those differences mean during actual work. Currency per branch and currency per student can both be sensible structures. Your family billing arrangements determine which structure causes less administration.
Uncertainty also matters. TutorCruncher’s pricing page names TutorCruncher Video, so describing TutorCruncher as having no classroom would be unfair. Ask TutorCruncher what Video includes and how the classroom you choose affects your total bill.
Pricing: what each costs for a 60-student academy
| Plan or example | Monthly subscription (currency stated, as of 21 October 2026 unless noted) | Other cost detail |
|---|---|---|
| Halqora Starter | USD 39/mo | Up to 25 active students |
| Halqora Academy | USD 2.50 per active student per month | USD 99 minimum |
| Example: Halqora Academy, 60 active students | USD 150/mo | 60 x USD 2.50 = USD 150 |
| TutorCruncher US Pay as you go | USD 30/mo | Payment percentages also affect cost; US page checked 20 October 2026 |
| TutorCruncher UK Pay as you go | GBP 25/mo | Card 2.65%; offline 1%, as of 21 October 2026 |
According to TutorCruncher’s UK pricing page, as of 21 October 2026, Startup costs GBP 60 per month and Enterprise costs GBP 200 per month. Startup lists card payments at 2.3% and offline payments at 0.65%. Extra branches cost GBP 40 per month, and a custom domain costs GBP 75 per month.
According to TutorCruncher’s US pricing page, checked 20 October 2026, Startup costs USD 80 per month and Enterprise starts at USD 240 per month. These are regional prices. Do not attach a UK payment percentage to a US subscription calculation without confirming the US terms.
As of 21 October 2026, Halqora pricing also includes Scale custom pricing for 300+ students. Annual billing gives 2 months free. Halqora offers a 14-day pilot, free onboarding and data import. TutorCruncher’s UK page lists a 2-week trial.
Halqora takes no payment-processing percentage; payment-provider costs still need consideration. Compare the same collection methods across both products. The guide to tutoring software pricing models explains why a base subscription and a student-based subscription need different budget inputs.
Billing and payments: GoCardless and Xero vs Wise matching and per-student currency
TutorCruncher says its integrations include Stripe and GoCardless for client payments, Wise (wise.com) for tutor payouts, and Xero and QuickBooks connections, as of 21 October 2026. TutorCruncher is the stronger fit when those services already form your collection and bookkeeping process.
Halqora connects PayPal, Stripe, Mercury and Wise (wise.com). Mercury sync is USD only. Halqora matches incoming Wise (wise.com) transfers to invoices; Halqora does not create those transfers. That distinction matters if your reason for choosing software is paying tutors rather than recognizing family payments.
With payment sync with Wise (wise.com) and Mercury, a transfer can match through an invoice number in the reference. Otherwise, matching checks amount, currency and payer name. Unclear candidates go to a queue for admin review. Matching depends on the payment information returned by the provider.
According to TutorCruncher’s currencies help article, as of 21 October 2026, currency belongs to a branch, with an option for ad hoc charges in other currencies. Halqora instead gives each student a currency for rates and invoices.
Halqora’s per-student currency does not mean automatic conversion. Invoices stay in their original currency, and dashboards show approximate USD totals. A family with students in different currencies needs review rather than automatic invoicing. Check the family arrangement before promising a combined invoice.
Halqora billing runs create draft invoices. An admin reviews and sends the invoices. Unpaid invoices receive automatic email reminders. Due dates default to 7 days after sending, with reminders 3 days before the due date, 3 days after and 10 days after. You can change invoice due days, reminder schedules and email wording.
TutorCruncher also describes a different advance-payment workflow. According to its credit requests help article, as of 21 October 2026, credit requests can come from planned lessons, with the balance decreasing as lessons finish. Halqora prepaid billing uses a forecast and later reconciliation; do not assume the balances transfer unchanged.
Classroom and teaching tools
Halqora’s Academy classroom brings video, screen sharing, a shared whiteboard and a page-synced PDF library into the lesson. Student screen sharing needs the teacher’s permission. Chat stays closed until an admin opens it. Families join through a permanent private class link showing the next class.
For Quran lessons, the synced 604-page Madinah Mushaf viewer includes tajweed coloring and English translations. Quran text and page fonts are credited to Quran Foundation (Quran.com). Translation credits include Rowwad Translation Center · QuranEnc.com and Pickthall. The shared view helps teacher and student refer to the same page during recitation.
We could not find a Quran viewer on TutorCruncher’s public integrations page as of 21 October 2026. That is a finding about the page checked, not a claim about every possible classroom setup.
TutorCruncher lists Lessonspace, Bobbin, Zoom, ClassIn, Merit Hub, Pencil Spaces and Bitpaper integrations as of 21 October 2026. Its pricing page also lists TutorCruncher Video. A choice of classroom providers can be valuable when your teachers already use a particular room. Confirm Video’s scope before treating it as equivalent to Halqora’s classroom.
Teacher pay and reliability
Halqora calculates teacher pay per class from an hourly rate, without currency conversion. Teachers record completed classes with reports, student no-shows and student cancellations. Admins resolve other outcomes and record late minutes, wait minutes and emergency exceptions. Classroom join logs do not determine payroll lateness.
Halqora uses fixed outcome rules, including rules such as a 2-minute grace period for teacher lateness. At 3 to 5 minutes late, the deduction is a flat 5% of that class’s pay. Beyond 5 minutes, the teacher loses a minute of pay for every minute late, with pay stopping at zero.
For a student no-show, the teacher receives full class pay after waiting at least half the class. The admin must record the wait. Discuss these rules with teachers before switching; the grace period and deduction thresholds cannot be changed for your academy.
According to TutorCruncher’s cancelling lessons article, as of 21 October 2026, TutorCruncher supports Cancelled but Chargeable lessons and a late-cancellation notice setting. Those documented controls address cancellation handling. They do not establish that TutorCruncher calculates Halqora’s teacher-lateness deductions.
Halqora reports contain a rating and written feedback for admins. Payroll for a period waits until completed-class reports are in. TutorCruncher’s reports article, checked 21 October 2026, documents lesson reports; compare report access and approval needs rather than assuming reports work identically.
Halqora reliability views compare cancellation and no-show rates with the previous period and track teacher lateness. The data depends on recorded outcomes. Missing outcomes need attention before the figures can help you judge recurring problems.
Choose TutorCruncher if…
Choose TutorCruncher when changing your financial connections would create more work than changing your academy software. Xero or QuickBooks connections and GoCardless direct debit are concrete reasons to prefer TutorCruncher. Classroom integration choice is another reason, especially when your teachers already have established lesson materials and routines.
TutorCruncher’s product reference, checked 21 October 2026, documents a REST API, BigQuery export and multi-branch setup. An agency building around those capabilities has requirements that go beyond scheduling and invoices. Ask how your existing workflows map to the documented connections.
TutorCruncher also advertises client and parent portals on its homepage, as of 21 October 2026. Halqora families use private links instead of accounts. A portal may suit families who expect a signed-in place to manage their relationship with the agency.
Choose Halqora if…
Choose Halqora when your academy teaches one-to-one live classes, bills students in different currencies and accepts the fixed outcome rules. The fit is strongest when the classroom, family billing and teacher-pay review are parts of the same daily operation. See how different academies use Halqora and compare it with your own class format.
Before moving, agree on the data-import scope. Review student currencies, rates, family billing accounts and scheduling rules in each IANA time zone. Compare a billing cycle and payroll period with your existing records. Check unresolved class outcomes before approving either set of amounts.
Private class and invoice links also change the family experience. Families receive an invoice page and PDF without logging in. Class and invoice links do not expire; replacing a link stops the old link working. Explain where families should keep their links before retiring an existing portal.
Free onboarding and data import help with the move, but cannot replace a dependent accounting connection or API workflow. Keep the switch conditional on those needs being covered. A clear fit matters more than winning a feature count.
