Halqora is our product. We've tried to keep this comparison fair: details about other products come from their public pages, named and dated in this article. Tell us if anything is out of date at support@halqora.com.

Online tutoring software covers classroom tools for live lessons and management tools for scheduling, billing, and payroll. You need both jobs covered, either through connected products or software that combines a classroom with academy management.

What are the meanings of online tutoring software?

Online tutoring software can mean the room where you teach or the system that manages the academy. Classroom software helps a teacher explain, demonstrate, and respond during a lesson. Management software handles what happens around the lesson: booking the time, recording the outcome, preparing the family invoice, and calculating teacher pay. A useful setup connects those jobs without making you enter the same decision repeatedly.

Start by naming the problem you want to solve. A teacher who cannot mark a student’s worksheet needs a classroom tool. An owner who cannot explain an invoice needs management software. Buying a better video room will not, by itself, settle which classes should be charged.

The distinction also helps when reading product pages. A feature called scheduling might mean a booking calendar or recurring class rules. A feature called attendance might mean connection logs or an outcome that affects billing. Ask the vendor to show the workflow behind the label. Our explanation of what tutoring management software is covers the business side in more detail.

What should classroom tools do during a lesson?

Classroom tools should let the teacher and student work on the same material while speaking and seeing each other. Video carries the conversation; a whiteboard supports explanation; screen sharing shows a task or resource. Document tools matter when lessons depend on worksheets or books. Check how the student follows the teacher and whether the teacher can control access to shared tools.

Test the actual teaching task. Open a PDF, change the page, annotate a passage, and ask the student to respond. A long feature list tells you less than watching whether the student can follow that sequence on the device they use at home.

Browser access can reduce setup work. MDN’s WebRTC documentation explains that web applications can capture and stream audio and video between browsers without plug-ins or separate software. Browser access still needs a practical device check, especially for microphone permissions and small screens.

Compare teaching controls with a virtual classroom features checklist. Evaluate audio and usability yourself: the supplied sources do not establish a reliable quality ranking between classrooms.

What should management tools do around a lesson?

Management tools should carry a class from the schedule to an outcome and then into the correct financial records. A completed lesson, a student no-show, and a cancellation may need different handling. The management system should make the decision visible before an invoice or teacher payment is finalized. Your admin should be able to explain the result without reconstructing conversations.

Ask for a demonstration of an ordinary class and an exception. Follow the student, teacher, scheduled time, recorded outcome, invoice line, and pay calculation. Check who enters the outcome and who can correct a mistake.

Keep draft preparation separate from sending. In Halqora, billing runs create draft invoices for an admin to review and send. Unpaid invoices receive automatic email reminders. Teachers record completed classes with reports, student no-shows, or student cancellations; admins resolve other cases. Classroom connection events do not automatically decide those outcomes.

Scheduling also needs attention when families and teachers live in different places. Halqora uses scheduling rules in each IANA time zone. During a demonstration, inspect the teacher’s and family’s views rather than assuming a calendar label answers every scheduling question.

Should you connect products or choose a combined system?

Connected products suit an academy that wants to choose its classroom separately from its management system. A combined system can keep the teaching room close to the schedule and class record. Neither setup proves that billing is correct. The important question is what crosses the connection: a room link, a scheduled time, a participant record, or a class outcome that an admin can review.

The table summarizes vendor-listed prices and allowances as of 21 October 2026. Classroom costs are not a quote for the management product or the complete setup.

According to Teachworks’ integrations page, its classroom connections include Lessonspace and Pencil Spaces, with video meeting services accessible through location links. Check the precise connection for your chosen pair before buying.

The classroom prices come from Lessonspace’s pricing page and Pencil Spaces’ pricing page. According to LearnCube’s pricing page, Virtual Classroom Basic also offers free unlimited one-to-one use. LearnCube is worth considering when you need a classroom before a broader management system. A connected setup is also a better fit when choosing an independent classroom is a firm requirement.

What does a free video app leave you to manage?

A free video app can cover the live conversation while you handle scheduling, class outcomes, invoices, and teacher pay elsewhere. That arrangement may be enough while your records remain easy to check. The risk appears when the same class has a different status in the teacher’s notes, your calendar, and the family invoice. Decide where the final class record lives before adding more tools.

As of 21 October 2026, Google Meet states that meetings with 3 or more participants can last up to 60 minutes without a subscription. Zoom lists Basic meetings up to 40 minutes and Pro meetings up to 30 hours. Paying for longer meetings addresses duration; assess your teaching and management needs separately.

Google Meet is a better free-plan fit for a longer lesson with a teacher and student when duration is the deciding factor. A tutor who already has a workable admin process may sensibly keep that setup. Our comparison of Zoom vs Google Meet for tutoring focuses on the video-app decision.

How do you pick the right combination?

Choose online tutoring software by walking through your real lesson process before comparing subscription totals. Begin with the subject and class format, then test teaching materials, family access, exceptions, and billing review. A product that handles a normal lesson well can still create work when a student misses class. Choose the combination whose records you can understand and whose limits fit your academy.

  1. Confirm subject and class-format support before testing other features. Halqora currently supports one-to-one classes and a fixed set of 5 Quran and Islamic subjects.
  2. Teach from your normal material on a family’s actual device. Check page navigation, annotation, microphone access, and screen sharing.
  3. Follow an exception through the records. Ask who records a no-show, who reviews the charge, and how teacher pay is calculated.
  4. Compare the complete pricing basis. Session hours, users, and active students measure different things; include charges from each product you need.
  5. Check the family journey. Inspect how families find class, open an invoice, and get help when a link stops working.

Ask the vendor to show these actions in the product. A clear demonstration is more useful than an assurance that an integration handles everything.

How Halqora handles this

Halqora is management software for online academies with a built-in browser classroom. Each schedule can use the Halqora classroom or a Google Meet link. The classroom includes video, teacher-controlled student screen sharing, a shared whiteboard, and a PDF library with page sync and annotation.

Families use a permanent private class link without an account. The link shows the next class and can be replaced or revoked. Halqora schedules, bills, and calculates teacher pay for one-to-one classes; Halqora does not send teacher payments. Halqora does not record lessons or send class reminders.

Questions readers ask

Do I need both a classroom tool and a management tool?

If you teach live and manage recurring students, you need both jobs covered. Separate products can cover those jobs, or a product can bundle them. A classroom handles the lesson itself. Management software connects the schedule, recorded class outcome, family charge, and teacher pay. Choose according to the work your academy needs to handle.

Is Zoom or Google Meet better for tutoring?

For longer free lessons with a teacher and student, Google Meet has the more generous duration allowance. As of 21 October 2026, Google states a 24-hour limit for meetings with 2 participants, while Zoom lists 40 minutes per meeting on Basic. Zoom Pro lists meetings up to 30 hours. Choose after checking lesson materials, participant needs, and management tools too.

What is a virtual classroom?

A virtual classroom is browser or app software used for live lessons. Teaching tools can include a shared whiteboard, screen sharing, document annotation, and controls for following the teacher's view. Lessonspace, Pencil Spaces, and LearnCube are examples of classroom products. A classroom can connect to management software, but check which information the connection actually passes between products.

Can students join without installing anything?

Often, yes. According to MDN's WebRTC documentation, browsers can capture and stream audio and video without plug-ins or separate software. Halqora's classroom runs in the browser, and students join through a private class link without creating an account. Test camera, microphone, screen size, and teaching materials on the family's actual device before choosing a setup.
