**This is a template, not legal advice.** Whether a teacher is a contractor or an employee depends on the law where they live and work and on how you actually work together, not on what the document is called. Have a lawyer in your country review your final version.

The agreement is written for academies that pay teachers per class. Its core is one table that says what a teacher earns for each class outcome, so payroll and the teacher's expectations come from the same rule.

## What it covers

| 1 to 3 | What the teacher teaches, independent status, availability and notice to change it |
| 4 | Pay per class outcome: on time, late, student cancelled, student no-show, makeup, trial, teacher cancelled |
| 5 | Monthly statement, time to query it, payment date, method and transfer fees, tax forms |
| 6 and 7 | Punctuality, connection failures, the reliability review, substitutes |
| 8 | Child safeguarding: training, background checks, contact only through the academy, reporting concerns |
| 9 to 11 | Confidentiality and student data, students introduced by the academy, teaching materials |
| 12 and 13 | Notice to end, ending immediately, final pay, governing law |
| Schedules | Rates, and the safeguarding lead's contact details |

## How to use it

1. Open the Word file. It also opens in Google Docs and Pages.
2. Replace every [bracketed] item. The numbers in brackets (3 hours, 50%, 30 days) are common starting points, not rules.
3. Make the outcome table in section 4 match the cancellation rules you give families. A family's late cancellation and the teacher's pay for it should come from the same notice window.
4. Fill in Schedule A with the teacher's rates and Schedule B with your safeguarding contacts.
5. Send it for review, then for signature. Keep the signed copy with the teacher's onboarding records.
